ACV Rinse – Shiny hair the natural way, benefits and directions

Which means I haven’t colored, permanently straightened or curled my hair for about 2 years. My blonde, chemically made highlights, have been cut off at this point. All I’m left with, is a typical scandinavian, dull, dark-blonde color. The sun helps with some natural highlights, but all the calcium we have in the water here in Denmark does NOT. Fortunately there’s an EASY trick that solves this issue in less than 3 minutes during your shower!
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (ACV) RINSE
The list of benefits you gain from rinsing your hair with ACV goes on and on! I will list the ones I have personally experienced!

  • Shiny hair
Like vinegar dissolves limescale in the bathroom (the annoying white coating from the hard water!), ACV dissolves limescale and other build ups from products in your hair. ACV is less harsh on the hair and scalp than ordinary vinegar would be. It makes each individual hair strand seem shinier and gives you an overall glossier look.
  • Soft hair
Hence the point above, less limescale and product rests (build-up) equals softer hair as well;) It reduces frizz and makes your natural hair appear more defined, weather it’s curly or straight.
  • Balancing effect on you scalp
Our scalp has a pH balance between 4.5 – 5.5. Some products have a tendency to mess that up a bit, ACV has a more acid pH level, closer to our natural one. My scalp feels more balanced after a ACV rinse, not too dry and not at all greasy (as long as you rinse thoroughly!).
  • Other benefits:
If you want to know even more benefits from ACV rinse, read this article🙂 It’s more detailed and describes benefits that might be harder to feel or sense immediately.

RECIPE:
I use 2 tablespoons of organic ACV and a large glass of water (2,5 deciliter/8 ounces). For longer or thicker hair, use 4 tablespoons, for shorter hair 1 can be enough. It might take some tries before you get the right dilution for your hair type.
DIRECTIONS:

  1. When all clay/shampoo is washed out, I rinse my hair in the ACV mixture. I pour half of the dilution over my head and massage it into my scalp. Then I put my hair in a low bun, and use the rest of the mixture on the lengths of my hair in the bun.
  2. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes. I would spend the time exfoliating, brushing my teeth or whatever.
  3. Rinse thoroughly, and you’re done.

It’s as easy as that, and I can feel my hair being softer immediately after the rinse, when it’s still wet.
Easy, natural and effective! #winwinwin #simplybeauty
TIP: You can add herbs or essential oils for a customized ACV hair rinse! Or you can buy it pre made for almost any hair type at Isangs🙂
