Sesame Oil – Guest bloggin’ from my favourite Ayurveda Yogi

guest blogger, sesame oil, ayurveda, indian medicine, nexdooryogi, yogi love, roskilde, budget, natural, beautyI’m probably some where in the dirt at Roskilde Festival right now, but that won’t stop me from posting this awesome blog post about sesame oil. One of my best friends and fellow yoga teacher (she’s right with me at Roskilde), promised me a geeky post about her love for sesame oil, and ALL it’s benefits. She has, of course, already convinced me to use the oil for almost everything, maybe she can do the same for you.
If you like it, then she has luckily agreed to write a bit more about Ayurveda (Indian medicine/lifestyle) that she has practised for the past 10 years, here on the blog! Enjoy:) #simplyfit

FIRST LOVE
I was for the first time introduced to sesame oil a few years back in India, where I met the oil through Ayurveda, – the Indian medicine system. What a wingman. I have been all around when it comes to oils and their health benefits and, but the first cut was the deepest.
I would have to write a novel, if I should mention ALL the health benefits of the magical oil. It?s simple and cheap compared to it?s enormous potential in fighting, preventing and reversing illness and disease. It contains a bit of everything from B6 (great anti aging), to Protein to Zink (mineral that produces collagen and more elasticity).
Like a Nicotine bandage, the skin can observe what ever we put on it. Therefore when ever I have time in the morning, I try this love again and again. I warm up some sesame oil (cold pressed and bio) slowly in a pan and massage it all over the body. I let it stay a bit before my shower, so the oil has time to work. Every time I do this I feel born again and ready to jump into the first downward facing dog of the day. (In old Indian routines, you clean yourself before practice).
In my daily routine I brush my teeth in homemade toothpaste scrape my tongue to get rid of the toxics that would make a white layer on the tongue after the night. After to rinse it well with a spoon of sesame oil. Also called oil pulling. This can remove plaque and keeping a healthy oral hygiene.
Perks added perks, this oil is also great, – hold on this might sound a little strange, to put in the ears and prevent earwax (it helps me a lot when I dive).
All my knowledge and the way I use the oil is from the classical Ayurveda, that actually advises you this oil if you have a VATA imbalance. You can read more in to that on my soon coming blog. #staytuned
